Love and Pain in Four Voices

Weeks turn into months, and when Elena  still has not returned, Giovanni asks Marco for advice. The attorney  introduces him to Luca Cattaneo, an Underworld boss, whose contacts  quickly locate the missing violinist. A few months later, Elena returns,  and the lovers are happily reunited, though some questions remain:

What  has happened to Elena over the past ten months? Can she regain her  musical technique? What consequences will arise from Giovanni’s  association with the Neapolitan Mafia?

Fortunately,  things begin to go smoothly for the hero and heroine, as they enjoy  professional and creative success. In 2009, the couple adopt their  godchild, Naomi. Elena soon learns that she is also their “spiritual  child” and will have an important role to play as the drama unfolds.

Giovanni’s  memoirs conclude, and both Elena and Angela assume the role of  narrator. Elena has been unable to share everything she knows with  Giovanni—and then there are matters about which even she is ignorant.  How and when will the Curse strike again, and what spiritual crisis does  Elena face?
